Marketta Styles, PT

Site Coordinator

Marketta StylesMarketta Styles is a physical therapist with OrthoTennessee. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She is also a certified athletic trainer.

Marketta has been a physical therapist since 1997. She says her role in the clinic is to educate and assist patients with recovery from surgery or injury.

“I became a physical therapist because I was involved in gymnastics where I became very interested in how the body works,” Marketta says. “What I enjoy most about this job is meeting people.”

In her spare time, Marketta enjoys scrapbooking and hanging out with family.

Rachel Amos, PTA

Rachel AmosRachel Amos is a physical therapist assistant with OrthoTennessee. She received an associate’s degree and a physical therapy assistant certification from Roane State Community College.

Rachel has been a physical therapist assistant since August, 2006, and says she became a physical therapy assistant to help people get back their lives. “I enjoy working with people of all ages and personalities,” Rachel says.

She describes her role in the clinic as helping the therapist with the patient load and providing the best patient care with in the plan provided by the therapist.

In her spare time, Rachel is a stained glass artist. She has two cats that she describes as “her children” and is fond of her fiancé Matt. “He’s the light of my life.”

Amy Hartwigsen, PTA

Amy HartwigsenAmy Hartwigsen is a physical therapy assistant with OrthoTennessee. She attended Freed Hardeman University and received an associate’s degree in physical therapy assistance from Walters State Community College.

Amy has been a physical therapy assistant since 2001 and says she became one because she wanted to help others. She most enjoys being around her co-workers and patients at work.

“I provide patients with a good program to improve their life physically and functionally,” Amy says, “and I help them return to their normal activities.”

In her spare time, Amy enjoys walking, reading and spending time with her family.

Brian Hicks, ATC, CSCS

Brian HicksBrian Hicks is an athletic trainer with OrthoTennessee. He received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Tennessee.

Brian has been an athletic trainer since 1994. He is affiliated with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

He became an athletic trainer to stay involved with athletics and to help people achieve their goals. He describes his role in the clinic as being a clinician that will help patients meet their rehabilitation goals and is functionally minded with a focus on the whole body when treating injuries.

According to Brian the most enjoyable thing about being an athletic trainer is having the ability to help individuals return to their previous level of function. “I enjoy helping people realize their potential whether they think they can do it or not,” Brian says.

He says he enjoys working with young athletes in the area of performance enhancement and also enjoys hunting and spending time with his family.

Eric Hyer, PT

Eric HyerEric Hyer is a physical therapist with OrthoTennessee. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology and secondary education from Drury University in 1989 and a master’s of physical therapy from Rockhurst University in 1996.

Eric has been a physical therapist since 1996. He practices all aspects of therapy, but describes his role in the clinic as specializing in treatment of the spine. He says his approach is to reduce the symptoms by promoting the best postures and activities for the condition and encourage continued care in returning to daily activities.

“Physical therapy combines all of my favorite things in life,” Eric says. “In therapy, I get to teach people how to help feel better and promote exercise and fitness.”

What he enjoys most about work is interacting with people and helping them to realize they have the ability to help themselves. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, and hiking with his family.

Kevin Kostka, PT

Kevin KostkaKevin Kostka, is a physical therapist with OrthoTennessee. He received bachelor’s degrees in psychology and rehabilitation science (Cum Laude) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). He also received a master’s degree and a doctorate in physical therapy from UTC. He is a performance enhancement specialist and a member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists.

Kevin has been a physical therapist since 2003. He describes his role in the clinic as research focused and a specialist in sport and shoulder rehabilitation.

“I became a physical therapist because of my involvement as a high school athlete and I was interested in the medical field,” Kevin says. “People told me it was too hard to get into physical therapy school so it pushed me to try.”

Kevin says what he most enjoys about his work is seeing his patients progress from the initial evaluation to the moment of returning to sports or to work.

In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, flag football, working out and spending time with his family.

Anita Tisdale, OT

Anita TisdaleAnita Tisdale is an occupational therapist with OrthoTennessee. She received a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Indiana University.

Anita has been a occupational therapist since 1985. She says her role in the clinic is to provide functional rehabilitation of hand and upper extremity injuries.

“I became a occupational therapist to help others,” Anita says. “What I enjoy most about my work is helping people to be able to do the things they did before their injury.”

In her spare time, Anita enjoys tennis, traveling, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
