Renee Hubbard, PT
Site Coordinator
Renee
Hubbard is a physical therapist with OrthoTennessee. She received
a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in business
administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She also received
a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Tennessee
Health Science Center in Memphis.
Renee has been a physical therapist since December, 1994. She describes her role in the clinic as leading and assisting patients through recovery of injury or disease to maximize function.
Renee became a physical therapist because of her combined interests in medicine and sports, and a positive experience with physical therapy as a young patient.
When asked about what she enjoys most about her job Renee says, “I enjoy meeting people, helping patients reach goals, and like to have a continual opportunity to learn.”
In her spare time, she enjoys dance classes, attending book club, reading, exercise, boating and time with family.
Doug Merrifield, ATC
Doug Merrified is an athletic trainer with OrthoTennessee.
He received a bachelor‚s degree in education from Western Washington
State College and a master‚s in physical education/sports medicine
from the University of Washington. He is a certified member of the National
Athletic Trainers Association and is the athletic trainer for Lenoir City
High School.
Doug has been an athletic trainer since 1970. He has covered
Austin East High School and Grace Christ ian Academy in a clinical outreach
capacity for the past seven years. He describes his role in the clinic as
a support therapist to the clinic's physical therapists. He also coordinates
the step-down program or fitness program which may be completed at the end
of formal physical therapy.
“I became an athletic trainer because I wanted to be around athletics,” Doug says, “and
most importantly, I wanted to help athletes get back to playing sports by
preventing injury with proper conditioning and training techniques.”
In his spare time, Doug enjoys watching sporting events and working with
the Boy Scouts.
